What you may NOT know is that there is a secret dessert tradition that Italians have shared for generations. THAT dessert is cannoli CAKE. Yes, you can make a cake from cannoli! My grandmother loved making this treat on special occasions –birthdays, holidays, and Sunday meals when the family would gather around in her famous kitchen.
Now you can have this delicious cake delivered right to your door.
It starts with two layers of a light vanilla butter cake that’s perfectly moist. In between is a delectable layer of cannoli cream. Our authentic Italian cannoli cream is made from the highest quality ricotta cheese.
We don’t just use any ricotta. We use Impastata Ricotta, which is considered “The Cadillac” of ricottas. This premium type of cheese originated in Italy. Its is made from fresh whole milk the artisanal way, and possesses less moisture than regular cheeses. This fresh, delicate cheese has a light flavor and a unique, velvety texture.
To this we add just a hint of lemon for a perfect balance, and then enhance the cream with bits of chocolate chips for some sweet added texture. We then top the cake with a smooth, vanilla frosting, and surround it with golden, hand-made pieces of cannoli shell for a wonderful crunch.
