Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy, especially in the region around the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi coast to include the islands of Procida, Ischia, and Capri. It is also produced in Sicily. Although there is debate about the exact origin it is at least one hundred years old. Limoncello is the second most popular liqueur in Italy and it has recently become popular in other parts of the world.
This rich yet light tasting treat is not too sweet and not too tart. It is light and not filling. Here at Frankie Avalon Foods, we hand craft ours the old fashioned way – like my Italian grandmother used to make – using the world’s finest ingredients.
Our luscious Limoncello Mascarpone cake is a rich combination of Sicilian lemon infused Savoiardi ladyfingers and then layer them with imported, triple mascarpone cream made from the milk of cows that have been fed special grasses, herbs and flowers. This special diet creates an ethereal flavor that is wonderfully fresh, light and delicious. We finished with a topping of European white chocolate curls to add a little sweetness. This is a refreshingly light creamy dessert with the perfect combination of sweet and tart. This is truly an Italian dessert treasure!
